Job Summary: West Tennessee Healthcare is seeking a skilled Patient Access Representative I to join our team. As a key member of our Patient Access Services, you will be responsible for completing the financial clearance process and creating a positive first impression for our patients and families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Clearance: Interview patients and collect necessary information for pre-registration and registration, ensuring accurate and timely completion of the financial clearance process.
- Insurance Verification: Verify relevant group/ID numbers and ensure proper insurance payer plan choice and billing address are assigned in the automated patient accounting system.
- Registration: Complete the registration process according to established policies and procedures, ensuring all necessary information is collected and recorded.
- Financial Screening: Perform initial financial screening and refer accounts for financial counseling and/or eligibility assessments as needed.
- Treatment Authorizations: Ensure all referrals and treatment authorizations for all patient types have been obtained according to outlined requirements, and contact payers for approvals if necessary.
- Medical Necessity Checks: Complete initial medical necessity checks and refer to designated areas if medical necessity fails or referrals/authorizations are denied.
- Communication: Advise next-level leaders of possible postponement or deferrals of elective/non-emergent admissions, and maintain accurate files for pre-processing information.
Requirements:
- Education: High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Experience: 1-2 years of healthcare or related experience preferred.
