Job Title: LPN/LVN School Nurse

Amergis is seeking a skilled LPN/LVN to provide healthcare services to students in a school setting. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and be able to provide first aid care and medically prescribed services.

Job Summary:

The LPN/LVN will be responsible for maintaining the security of school health supplies and medication, providing follow-up evaluations on students as required, and corresponding with parents on health needs of children. The nurse will also record immunizations, health findings, and other relevant health data, and identify abnormal growth and development, symptoms of disease, and discuss with parents.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides first aid care and medically prescribed services
  • Maintains security of school health supplies and medication
  • Provides follow-up evaluations on students as required
  • Corresponds with parents on health needs of children
  • Records immunizations, health findings, and other relevant health data
  • Identifies abnormal growth and development, symptoms of disease, and discusses with parents
  • Develops and maintains health records on students
  • Develops positive working relationships
  • Supports student medical needs during transport as applicable
Requirements:
  • Current LPN/LVN license for the state in which the nurse practices
  • Current PPD or Chest X-Ray
  • One year prior professional nursing experience in school setting preferred
  • Pediatric experience preferred
  • Current BLS card
  • Considerable knowledge of medical disorders and treatment
  • Considerable knowledge of child growth and development
  • Some knowledge of public health problems and procedures for treatment in coordination with other health and social service agencies
  • Some knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations affecting the delivery of school health services
  • Understands the school organization and the community served
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
  • Computer proficiency preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
