Position Overview

The IDEX Optical Technologies, Rochester Semicon Business Line is in search of a Manufacturing Engineer who is enthusiastic about problem-solving and teamwork. This role involves supporting production by applying technical expertise to enhance manufacturing processes for optimal efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality. The engineer will identify opportunities for improvement and prioritize initiatives accordingly.

This is an onsite role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within manufacturing.
  • Address production product/process discrepancies, assisting production technicians during issue escalation.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and formulate effective solutions.
  • Create new product BOMs and routings within the ERP system.
  • Manage project timelines effectively.
  • Develop and implement methodologies to enhance workflow and testing capabilities.
  • Document all procedures for newly developed processes and ongoing projects.
  • Establish metrics to monitor process capability and improvements.
  • Recommend or create drawings for necessary jigs as needed.
  • Translate customer specifications into actionable procedures for the department.
  • Collaborate with various departments to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Adhere to and enforce all safety regulations.
  • Utilize data analysis techniques to prioritize solutions.
  • Communicate changes effectively across all organizational levels.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency in Python.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Capability to read and interpret various job-related instructions and documents, including blueprints.
  • Skill in collecting, compiling, and understanding basic mathematical calculations and statistical data.
  • Ability to set personal deadlines and manage project schedules.

Qualifications and Experience
  • B.S. or higher in Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with familiarity in statistical process control or similar methodologies.
  • Lean Six Sigma certifications are preferred.

Total Rewards
The compensation range for this position is $74,000 to $111,000, depending on experience. This position may also be eligible for a performance-based bonus plan.
