Position: EMT Basic - PRN
Overview: Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) are crucial responders to urgent situations, delivering immediate medical assistance to those in critical condition and ensuring safe transport to healthcare facilities. EMTs are expected to uphold the mission and core values of Massac Memorial Hospital while adhering to all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations.
Reporting Structure: Reports directly to the EMS Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure ambulance readiness for emergency responses, including vehicle checks for operational efficiency, fuel levels, and necessary medical supplies.
- Drive the ambulance to emergency locations, following traffic laws and maintaining communication with dispatch.
- Provide comprehensive patient care from the moment of arrival at the scene until delivery to a medical facility, prioritizing care based on the patient's needs.
- Complete all required documentation for each call, including trip tickets and patient information forms.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and engage in continuous professional development through training and educational activities.
Additional Expectations: EMTs are expected to demonstrate exceptional customer service, participate in team meetings, and maintain a respectful and compassionate demeanor in all interactions. They must also remain adaptable to various work assignments and serve a diverse community.
Qualifications:
- Valid EMT license in the state of Illinois.
- Current CPR certification and a valid driver's license.
Experience: Candidates should possess the ability to perform duties calmly and efficiently, even in high-pressure situations, and must be capable of safely transferring patients as needed.
