Job Summary

To inspire and prepare each and every scholar with the confidence, courage, and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning.

As a Licensed School Nurse, you will provide professional nursing expertise to support the educational progress of all scholars. This includes performing health screenings and assessments, administering and delegating medication administration and treatments to scholars according to district policy, per physician orders, and parental authorization. You will also develop, train, and monitor staff in the implementation of Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHP) and Emergency Plans (EP), as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional nursing expertise to support the educational progress of all scholars
  • Perform health screenings and assessments, administer and delegate medication administration and treatments to scholars according to district policy, per physician orders, and parental authorization
  • Develop, train, and monitor staff in the implementation of Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHP) and Emergency Plans (EP), as appropriate
  • Promote a healthy school environment, including providing health education to scholars and guardians/caregivers designed according to district guidelines
  • Facilitate the District's compliance with State and Federal mandates related to the health of school district scholars
  • Serve as a health educator to staff, scholars, and guardians/caregivers on health issues
  • Manage the day-to-day duties of the health office
  • Make appropriate and equitable use of resources and technologies
  • Implement the goals and objectives of the district, school, and/or program for which employed
  • Maintain contact and communication with guardians/caregivers of scholars
  • Initiate and sustain collaboration within and across departments, programs, building, and with public and private health care providers to improve scholar achievement

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Must be registered with the Minnesota Board of Nursing as a public health nurse (PHN)
  • Licensed as a School Nurse through PELSB or ability to obtain license
