Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse

Osseo Area Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team. As a LPN, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational progress of students with chronic and temporary health conditions.

Job Summary:

The LPN will provide professional nursing care to students, including administering medication, providing emergency care, and conducting health screenings. You will work closely with the school's healthcare team to ensure the health and well-being of students.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer medication and specialized health care treatments to students as directed by physicians and authorized by parents or guardians.
  • Provide emergency care and first aid to students as needed.
  • Conduct health screenings and monitor student health status.
  • Consult with the delegating RN/LSN and obtain direction regarding questions outside the scope of LPN practice.
  • Follow individual emergency plans and IHPs.
  • Report injuries or 911 calls to the supervising RN/LSN and record information for accident reports.
  • Conduct vision and hearing screenings and facilitate referrals to healthcare agencies or facilities as needed.
  • Monitor student health and obtain immunization records to prevent and control communicable disease.
  • Excuse or re-admit students for health reasons in accordance with district protocols and state and county health department exclusion guidelines.
  • Provide ongoing observation and feedback on student health status to the RN/LSN.
  • Establish and maintain student health records.
  • Order and maintain adequate first aid and healthcare supplies.
  • Act as a resource person for health education materials and promote a healthy school environment.
Requirements:
  • Must be a licensed practical nurse currently licensed in the State of Minnesota.
  • Knowledge of basic first aid and health screening.
  • Ability to communicate and foster positive working relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Organization, confidence, patience, understanding, and teamwork.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Basic computer skills.
