Job Summary:

As the Director of Labor and Delivery, you will be responsible for overseeing the management and provision of nursing care rendered in the departments managed. You will plan, organize, and evaluate patient care within the program to develop and maintain high-quality, evidence-based care for your patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, organize, and evaluate patient care within the program to develop and maintain high-quality, evidence-based care for your patients.
  • Responsible and accountable for nursing care rendered in the departments, based on the Nursing Process—assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Determine and ensure the competence of all staff members is assessed, maintained, demonstrated, and improved on an ongoing basis.
  • Participate in selecting sources for needed services not provided by the departments or the organization.
  • Responsible for ensuring core measure patients are identified and protocols followed.
Qualifications:
  • 3 years minimum of recent (within the last year) Director or Manager L&D, Women's Services acute care hospital leadership experience required.
  • Previously worked in high-volume L&D.
  • Education—MSN is required.

Department Overview:

Labor and delivery department at MCare Agency LLC is a high-volume unit with 49 labor and delivery rooms, 9 cesarean section operating rooms, and 24/7 OB hospitalists, triage, and in-house anesthesiologists. The department provides enhanced surgical recovery (ESR) for cesarean delivery and level IV comprehensive maternal care.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Director will oversee 3 areas: L&D, L&D OR, and OB ED.
  • FTES: approx. 150 including 4 Managers.
Support System:
  • 4 Managers, charge nurses, and clinical support resource management elbow support for new nurses to provide additional resources for 2 years of practice.
  • Able to provide training and education for nurses who struggle in skills or processes for immediate support.
Reporting Structure:
  • Director reports to CNO & ACNO.
