Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Plumber and Fitter to join our team at Penn State University. As a key member of our Facilities Maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of plumbing and piping installations, repairs, and maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing and piping systems, including steam distribution and return lines, water lines, and sewer lines.
  • Perform complete plumbing and piping installations, including testing and inspecting completed work to detect faulty installations.
  • Inspect, maintain, and perform housekeeping programs on tunnels, manholes, valve and meter boxes, septic tanks, and other areas.
  • Operate various types of hand and power tools to cut, thread, bend, and join pipe.
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, sketches, and work orders to plan and layout work in proper sequence.
Requirements
  • Requires the use of advanced shop mathematics and the ability to read and interpret complicated drawings and specifications.
  • Equivalent to a complete accredited, indentured apprenticeship or equivalent to high school plus a 2-year technical college education.
  • Over 1 year up to and including 3 years of experience in a related field.
Work Schedule and Benefits

This is a full-time position with a standard work schedule of 6:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The position requires the ability to operate a motor vehicle as part of the job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
