Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Plumber - Fitter to join our team at Penn State University. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing and piping systems across our campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, repair, and maintain a wide variety of plumbing and piping components, including steam distribution and return lines, water lines, deep well pumps, and more.
  • Perform complete plumbing and piping installations, repairs, and alterations, and test and inspect completed work to ensure quality and safety.
  • Operate various types of hand and power tools to cut, thread, bend, and join pipe, and operate and maintain portable sewage and water pumps, sewage cleaning machines, and rods.
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, sketches, and work orders, and plan and layout work in proper sequence to ensure top-quality results.
  • Detect unusual conditions and defective materials, and report to supervisor.
  • Maintain workshop and job area in clean, neat, and orderly condition, and protect surrounding property and furniture from damage during work.
  • Answer questions for and/or direct the work of apprentices and/or lower-grade employees as required.
  • Operate a motor vehicle as required.
Requirements
  • Equivalent to a complete accredited, indentured apprenticeship or equivalent to high school plus a 2-year technical college education.
  • Over 1 year up to and including 3 years of experience in plumbing and piping installation, repair, and maintenance.
  • Valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check required.
Work Schedule

6:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Days Off

Friday, Saturday, Sunday
