Position Overview

As a Controls Technician at LONG, your role will involve supporting clients by programming temperature control systems in accordance with project specifications. Leveraging your knowledge in the commercial HVAC sector, you will carry out installation, warranty, emergency, and maintenance services on existing systems.

Compensation: $25 - $36 per hour, with potential profit-sharing opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program databases for all supported systems to align with specified operational sequences and equipment manufacturer recommendations, adhering to LONG standards and contractual obligations.
  • Conduct calibration and verification of control systems, ensuring compliance with specified operational sequences and commissioning requirements.
  • Collaborate with the graphics coordinator and/or provide necessary labor and expertise for the creation and delivery of graphical user interfaces as required for projects, in line with LONG standards and contractual documents.
  • Educate customer personnel on the operation and maintenance of temperature control systems and energy conservation practices.
  • Update drawings and maintain records of equipment for as-built documentation, ensuring all redlined drafts are submitted to application engineers.
  • Inform the service sales manager of additional sales opportunities and promote service contracts during start-up, commissioning, and owner training activities.
Required Qualifications
  • 1+ years of technical school education and 1+ years of experience in DDC/BAS control system start-up, checkout, and service OR 2+ years of experience in DDC/BAS control system start-up, checkout, and service.
  • Valid Driver's License.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Comprehensive understanding of HVAC, control systems, building automation, electrical systems, energy management, fire alarm and smoke removal systems, engineering, installation, and construction protocols.
  • Proficient in programming and troubleshooting with KMC, Schneider, Tridium/Honeywell, and other comparable systems.

Physical Requirements
  • Regular activities include sitting, lifting, bending, and kneeling.
  • Capability to lift 50 lbs from floor to countertop and vice versa.
