Job Summary:
The DeKalb County Water Department is seeking a highly skilled Water Quality Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our water quality team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and quality of our potable water distribution system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect facilities in the field to ensure compliance with water backflow regulations and prepare reports indicating required devices, locations, and account information.
- Test Watershed backflows and check that all backflow components are in functioning order and maintained properly.
- Assist in the installation of required components and fix or replace parts as needed to maintain proper working order of backflow apparatus.
- Attend pre-construction meetings and answer questions pertaining to backflow issues, and review construction plans with contractors.
- Collaborate with the Cross Connection Specialist as required.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Four years of work experience involving water operations, water laboratory, or water-related construction/maintenance.
- Valid Georgia driver's license.
- Backflow Device Technician certificate within one year of employment and maintenance of such certification during employment in this classification.
