About the Role

Cleveland Clinic is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures. Your attention to detail and ability to work under pressure will be essential in maintaining a safe and efficient environment for patients and surgical teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons and registered nurses during surgical procedures, ensuring the maintenance of a sterile field and the proper handling of instruments and equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain the operating room, including setting up equipment and supplies, and ensuring that all necessary materials are available.
  • Participate in the intraoperative 'timeout' to ensure that all team members are aware of the procedure and any potential complications.
  • Collect and label specimens removed during surgical procedures and hand them over to the circulator for disposition.
  • Assist in gowning and gloving surgical team members and draping patients.
Requirements
  • Completion of a surgical technology program accredited through the CAAHEP or ABHES, or completion of a military surgical technology program, or certification as a Surgical Technologist (acceptable certifications include TS-C or CST).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Preferred qualifications include certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) and experience working in a perioperative setting.
