Job Overview:

The MRI Technologist is responsible for conducting diagnostic magnetic resonance imaging procedures in accordance with established regulatory and departmental quality control standards. This role includes the identification and reporting of safety concerns, including hazardous conditions and medical discrepancies.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Completion of Trade/Vocational training in Radiologic Technology
  • 1-3 years of experience in general radiology
  • Valid state license
  • AART certification
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association

Preferred:

  • ARMRIT certification

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Per Diem
  • Day shift
  • Schedule varies based on departmental needs

Essential Functions:

  • Adapts to fluctuating work demands based on departmental requirements
  • Addresses concerns from patients and medical staff
  • Assists in the transportation of patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers, and MRI tables
  • Facilitates the orientation of new department and hospital personnel as needed
  • Supports the physician in administering contrast media necessary for procedures
  • Regularly checks equipment, supplies, and accessories
  • Reviews requisitions for physician notes and special instructions
  • Demonstrates proper and effective anatomic positioning skills
  • Explains the nature and time requirements of requested examinations to patients in an age-appropriate manner
  • Identifies issues and communicates them to the immediate supervisor; proposes solutions as necessary
  • Conducts Magnetic Resonance Imaging procedures for patients of all ages, from neonatal to geriatric
  • Positions patients to capture desired images; applies immobilization devices as needed
  • Recognizes emergency situations and initiates appropriate procedures
