Job Overview

The Human Resources Manager position at The Boar's Head Resort is a key role that assists in carrying out the daily activities of the Human Resource Office. This includes recruitment, total compensation, and assisting management with the development and implementation of human resources strategies, worker's compensation, policies, and initiatives.

The successful candidate will assist in delivering HR services that meet or exceed the needs of employees and enable resort success. Additionally, they will ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and operating procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the recruitment program to attract qualified candidates, including reviewing and refining job descriptions, consulting with hiring managers, engaging recruiters as needed, candidate screening, phone interviews, coordination and preparation, in-person interviews, and extending job offers.
  • Ensure a meaningful onboarding experience for all new team members.
  • Define, refine, and implement all aspects of a performance management program, ensuring ongoing effectiveness and relevance. Ensure that goals and performance evaluations are completed in a timely manner.
  • Support the development of a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) framework, working with outside consultants as needed.
  • Assist team members and managers in promptly and adequately addressing employment-related issues, ensuring all disciplinary actions are carried out professionally, legally, and consistently.
  • Work with the unemployment services provider to respond to unemployment claims, reviewing provider reports for accuracy and correcting errors.
  • Assist with unemployment claim activity reports.
  • Attend unemployment hearings and ensure the resort is properly represented, as needed.
  • Assist with ensuring employee files contain required employment paperwork, proper performance management, and compensation documentation, are properly maintained and secured for the required length of time.
  • Assist with ensuring compliance with procedures for accessing, reviewing, and auditing employee files and ensure compliance with the Privacy Act.
  • Assist with ensuring medical records are maintained in a separate, secure, and confidential medical file.
  • Communicate the resort's rules and regulations via the employee handbook.
  • Assist with managing Workers Compensation claims to ensure appropriate employee care and manage costs.
  • Assist with refining and implementing the Total Rewards program to ensure market competitiveness, including annual benefits and compensation review, claims handling, market survey, and open enrollment meetings.
  • Contribute to the resort's overall success by completing additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent work experience) in Business Administration, with Human Resources management preferred.
  • Members of SHRM and CP or SCP certification.
  • A team player with strong leadership skills and work ethic.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills, as well as attention to detail and ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to exercise good and cautious judgment while effectively interfacing with all team members diplomatically.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
