School Psychologist Role

This position reports to the Pupil Services Division and school principal in a midsize urban school district located in the Capital region of Upstate New York. The School Psychologist will work with teachers, parents, and school leaders to develop plans and strategies to improve students' academic performance and social emotional development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assessment: Administering psychological and educational assessments to identify students' strengths and areas of need.
  • Consultative Skills: Collaborating with teachers, staff, and students to develop behavior plans and provide support for students' academic and social success.
  • Intervention design and evaluation: Designing and implementing interventions to address students' academic, behavioral, and emotional challenges.
  • Culturally responsive practice: Providing assessment and intervention solutions that are sensitive to the diverse needs of students, parents, teachers, and school personnel.
  • Special education regulations: Demonstrating knowledge of special education regulations, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance and support for students with disabilities.
Qualifications
  • Doctorate in School Psychology preferred; NYS certification as a School Psychologist is required.
  • Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university.
  • CSE experience preferred; experience working in schools and with children preferred.
