Position Summary:

The Precision Welding Solutions Division is in search of a driven individual for the role of Mechanical Technician. This position will involve providing engineering assistance on divisional projects, with approximately 85% of the time spent on office-based SolidWorks/CAD tasks and 15% on prototyping and testing activities. The distribution of these tasks may fluctuate throughout the year based on project demands.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize SolidWorks to design or modify mechanical components, demonstrating familiarity with molded parts, sheet metal, weldments, machined components, extrusions, and forgings.
  • Employ PDM software for project management.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in dimensioning and tolerancing parts/assemblies, analyzing the impact of assembly tolerance stack-up.
  • Create new or revised part/assembly models, drawings, and illustrations.
  • Conduct minor cost analyses and propose innovative design solutions.
  • Design and prepare models/drawings for manufacturing fixtures and engineering test instruments.
  • Assist in prototype construction by modifying existing components, sourcing rapid prototyped parts, and performing basic fabrication tasks.
  • Support the setup of test instrumentation and execute various engineering tests.
  • Contribute to problem-solving efforts.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree in Design Drafting or Engineering Technology is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is necessary.
  • Familiarity with various hand tools, machines, and fabrication equipment is essential.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MS Word, and Excel is required.
  • Ability to understand, create, and maintain circuit diagrams is important.
  • Must work effectively both in a team setting and independently with minimal supervision.
  • A highly motivated team player with a positive attitude and strong time management skills is essential.
  • Knowledge of DC circuits, PLC programming, and test data acquisition automation is advantageous.
