Maintenance/Grounds Engineer Job Description

Meridian Health Services is seeking a skilled Maintenance/Grounds Engineer to maintain the physical condition of our facilities at River Bend Hospital in Lafayette, Indiana.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to maintenance and custodial requests in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Perform remedial maintenance and custodial duties, including grounds keeping and facility exterior upkeep.
  • Ensure the safety of clients, staff, and visitors by performing tasks such as snow removal and salting of sidewalks and parking lots.
  • Remain on-call 24 hours a day for prompt response to emergent maintenance needs.
  • Perform emergency repairs and assist with the implementation of a preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Assist in the evaluation of facility needs and assist in securing price quotes.
  • Repair and maintain electrical circuits, switches, outlets, lighting fixtures, and other equipment.
  • Install and repair carpeting and tile, and repair and maintain basic plumbing fixtures.
  • Carpentry tasks, including demolition, framing, and finishing of drywall, insulation, and doors.
  • Inspect buildings regularly and repair and maintain building exteriors and roofs.
  • Order supplies and maintain maintenance work areas and storage areas in a clean and safe manner.
  • Communicate effectively and display a professional manner when dealing with supervisors, co-workers, and individuals inside and outside of the organization.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with a combination of education, training, and minimum of two years maintenance experience.
  • Demonstrated ability or experience in the maintenance field.
  • Ability to work overtime, fluctuate hours, and work emergency call-in.
  • Valid Indiana driver's license.
