Our client, a distinguished electronics manufacturer specializing in small component assembly for sectors such as healthcare, automotive, aerospace, and defense, is seeking a dedicated Evening Materials Supervisor.
Position Type: Direct Hire
Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM (Monday to Friday)
Compensation: $20 - $25 per hour, depending on experience
Role Purpose
The primary responsibility of the Materials Supervisor is to oversee and coordinate the activities of team members involved in the procurement, receipt, storage, inventory management, and distribution of materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and components within the stockroom.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Designing the layout of the stockroom based on item turnover, dimensions, weight, and other relevant factors.
- Providing guidance to team members on the proper handling and preservation of received and stored items, as well as the use of equipment for storage and maintenance.
- Generating reports on unusable, slow-moving, and surplus inventory.
- Organizing schedules for special and routine inventory counts.
- Investigating discrepancies between inventory records and actual stock, recommending corrective actions as necessary.
- Establishing work procedures, preparing schedules, and facilitating workflow.
- Issuing both written and verbal instructions to team members.
- Assigning tasks and reviewing work for accuracy, neatness, and adherence to policies.
- Analyzing and standardizing procedures to enhance team efficiency.
- Addressing errors and resolving complaints.
- Ensuring the proper disposal of recyclable materials processed through the stockroom.
Supervisory Duties
This role involves direct supervision of five associates within the Materials team. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training staff; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; and addressing concerns and resolving issues.
Qualifications for Success
- Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical institution.
- Alternatively, four to five years of relevant experience and/or training.
- Or a combination of education and experience that is equivalent.
