Position Summary and Requirements

  • This is a Full-Time Night shift position, 7pm - 7am, with rotating weekends.

As a Registered Nurse in the Orthopedic Medical Surgical unit, you will adhere to the standards of nursing practice established by the American Nursing Association.

Your responsibilities will include organizing, assessing, documenting, and maintaining care plans for adult and geriatric orthopedic patients, ensuring individualized, family-centered, holistic, and safe care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess the health status and needs of patients through health data interpretation and preventive practices in collaboration with patients and the healthcare team.
  • Utilize a systematic approach to deliver individualized, goal-oriented nursing care.
  • Conduct thorough nursing assessments regarding patient health status.
  • Develop nursing care plans based on identified nursing diagnoses and patient needs.
  • Implement nursing care within the RN's scope of practice, ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
  • Create and execute educational plans for patients focused on health promotion and restoration.
  • Provide emotional support and age-appropriate care to foster partnerships with patients and their families.
  • Evaluate patient responses and outcomes to therapeutic interventions.
  • Employ critical thinking to analyze clinical data and literature for informed decision-making.
  • Act as a patient advocate to ensure safety and quality care in the clinical environment.
  • Support the Mission, Vision, and Values of the organization.

Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree required; BSN must be obtained within 24 months of hire.
  • Current RN license in the State of TX required; compact license accepted.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in an acute care hospital within the last 3 years; orthopedic experience preferred.
