Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Staff Software Engineer to lead our security engineering discipline and define the strategy for securing our infrastructure and services. This role requires a strong technical background in data security and distributed systems, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills.

As a key member of our Trust & Safety team, you will be responsible for making Databricks safer for our customers by identifying and plugging key gaps in our infrastructure and services. You will also attract top talent from across the industry, represent the security engineering discipline throughout the organization, and represent Databricks at academic and industry conferences & events.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement secure architectures for our data and AI infrastructure platform.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate security risks.
  • Develop and maintain security best practices and policies.
  • Lead the development of new security features and technologies.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • 9+ years of experience in Data Security or related areas and expertise in two or more of the following: Cryptography, Kubernetes Security, Web Security, Governance, Privacy, Trust, Safety, Authentication, Identity Management, Access Control, Key Management, Inter-Service Authentication, Secure Application Frameworks, Detection & Response.
  • 15+ years of experience building large scale distributed systems with high availability.
  • Leadership skills and experience to lead across functional and organizational lines.
  • Strong communication skills to explain and evangelize Data Security to senior leaders across the company.
  • Bias to action and passion for delivering high-quality solutions.
  • MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science or related fields.

Databricks is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range for this role is $220,400 — $297,400 USD per year, depending on location and experience.
