Position Summary

The Senior Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation and on-demand/scheduled servicing and training of various general-purpose equipment utilized in diverse industrial and customer-specific applications.

This role necessitates daily travel by vehicle, often requiring overnight stays, with typical drive times ranging from 1 to 6 hours each day.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols while completing safety-related training punctually and to expectations.
  • Accurately document daily service activities and expenses in the designated recording system.
  • Diagnose complex issues related to customer equipment, analyze relevant information, and implement effective solutions.
  • Interpret intricate blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics for installation, repair, and upgrades of customer machinery.
  • Provide technical support and training to Signode technicians.
  • Manage service call schedules for accuracy and completion.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures involving mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic systems, perform preventative maintenance, disassemble units, and replace defective components.
  • Coordinate pre-installation meetings with customers to review procedures and responsibilities, inspect sites for compatibility, and oversee the installation, adjustment, and testing of equipment.
  • Report and address potential safety hazards proactively, suggesting effective solutions.
  • Maintain professional customer relationships by clearly explaining product failures, the nature of issues, and recommended corrective actions.
  • Communicate essential information promptly to key stakeholders, including customers, management, and engineering teams.
  • Possess intermediate knowledge of PLC systems to troubleshoot and repair programmable logic controllers.
  • Identify opportunities for upgrades and retrofits, notifying relevant parties to assist in proposal quotations.
  • Design and conduct training programs for repair and preventative maintenance for both customers and company service representatives.
  • Prepare detailed non-conformance reports and service bulletins.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Service Manager to manage inventory levels and specific parts related to assigned equipment.

Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or Technical Degree.
Experience:
4-5 years of relevant experience.
Background in Electrical, Mechanical, Blueprints, Schematics, and PLC systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
Preferred:
Completion of professional courses in electrical, mechanical, or automation fields.
