We are seeking a highly skilled and certified Medical Assistant II to join our team at UNC Health Care. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide routine clinical and administrative support to providers and other healthcare professionals in an outpatient clinic setting.
Responsibilities- Perform rooming and intake processes, collecting and documenting patient data, including vital signs, medical history, and reason for visit.
- Collect patient and family data, including medical and social history.
- Review patient's current medication list, allergies, and preferred pharmacy.
- Assist providers with treatments, examinations, and procedures.
- Collect specimens and perform phlebotomy.
- Administer medications under the direction of a provider.
- Perform tests, such as EKG and eye exams, under the direction of a provider.
- Review patient records to determine routine health screenings.
- Ensure exam and treatment rooms are stocked with necessary supplies and equipment.
- Provide patient education and instructions on after-visit care.
- Prepare and maintain exam and treatment rooms.
- Clean and sterilize instruments.
- Assist with patient registration, scheduling, and referrals.
- Answer clinic phone and assist with in-basket tasks.
- Assist in emergency situations as directed by a provider or nurse.
- Medical Assistant certification by a recognized organization.
- Basic Life Support Certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- At least one year of full-time experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified.
- Ability to perform essential functions of the position.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work positively with patients, families, and staff.
This is a full-time position with a standard 40-hour workweek. The salary range is $25.86 per hour, with pay offers determined by experience and internal equity. The work assignment type is onsite, with a day job schedule. The location of the job is UNC Medical Center, Chapel Hill, NC.
