ROLE SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Environmental Services Manager and Administrative Supervisor, the Housekeeper is responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of patient, public, clinical, and administrative areas, ensuring compliance with the standards of Lancaster General Hospital.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Qualified candidates must possess the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following tasks: Thoroughly cleans all environmental surfaces, including but not limited to furniture, beds, bathroom fixtures, window sills, door frames, vents, televisions, walls, light fixtures, and windows, adhering to universal precautions.
Utilizes both dry and wet mopping techniques for rooms, hallways, stairs, bathrooms, and offices; performs spot cleaning and vacuuming of carpets.Collects and disposes of waste and soiled linens following universal precautions. Replenishes supply dispensers as needed.
Coordinates with nursing staff for patient discharges/transfers, reporting available patient rooms and submitting maintenance requests through the computer system.
Responds to routine requests via pager.
Removes, cleans, and rehangs cubicle curtains, shower curtains, and window treatments. Maintains a working knowledge of universal precautions, MSDS, and compactor recycling operations, applying this knowledge as necessary.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
The following tasks are considered secondary to the primary responsibilities listed above: Maintains service closets and housekeeping carts in a well-stocked, organized, and clean manner.
Reports any hospital property and equipment requiring repair, assists in transferring furniture, and performs spot cleaning of furniture as necessary.Participates in in-service training and programs as assigned. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Six (6) months of experience in hospitality or medical housekeeping.
