Position Summary

The Cybersecurity Engineer role is a hands-on position requiring advanced technical skills. The selected candidate will manage a variety of responsibilities, including the daily administration of cybersecurity tools and systems, identifying and addressing vulnerabilities and threats, participating in security audits, and developing or updating cybersecurity policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer system security across designated technology platforms, including operating systems, applications, and network security devices, adhering to established policies and industry best practices.
  • Conduct threat and vulnerability assessments, implementing remedial actions to safeguard systems against known and potential threats.
  • Apply necessary patches and, under the guidance of the Director of Enterprise Architecture, mitigate known control weaknesses to enhance system security.
  • Compile security incident and event data to generate monthly management reports.
  • Create and maintain documentation for security systems and procedures.
  • Research, evaluate, and implement cybersecurity solutions to detect and protect against potential threats.
  • Maintain up-to-date network security diagrams.
  • Support architectural requirements for cybersecurity.
  • Engage in cybersecurity working groups.
  • Report unresolved security exposures and compliance issues through defined escalation processes.
  • Assist and mentor junior team members in utilizing security tools and preparing security reports.
  • Investigate security violations, providing postmortem analyses to identify issues and propose solutions.
  • Participate in infrastructure projects to develop and implement specifications for network and distributed system security technologies.
  • Assist in managing firewalls, intrusion detection systems, switches, and routers.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a cybersecurity or network security role.
  • Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, computer science, or equivalent experience.
  • CISSP certification preferred; other relevant certifications will be considered.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, including risk assessment, threat management, incident response, and identity management.
  • Technical expertise with security-related systems, particularly Cisco FTD/ASA, Meraki MX, Microsoft security products, and Microsoft O365/Azure.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining security procedures.
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and associated protocols.
  • Proficient in TCP/IP and network administration.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for effective incident resolution.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple high-stress situations.
  • Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with a diverse range of individuals and roles.
  • Customer-focused approach, with the ability to manage expectations and foster long-term relationships.
