Key Responsibilities
  • Weld components related to tank cars, including tanks, bolsters, underframes, side sills, etc.
  • Perform welded repairs using air arc cutting torch and stick or wire welding equipment.
  • Use hand tools and equipment to chip and grind weld, slag or spatter.
  • Repair, straighten, remove, rework car parts, brakes, underframes, center plates, gears, couplers, valves, etc.
  • Perform welding and mechanical repairs to tank and hopper cars as required.
Requirements
  • Basic welding experience is a plus.
  • Lift and carry necessary equipment to the car to perform operations.
  • Climb, walk, and balance on top of the car while welding.
