Radiologic Technologist IV-Mammography Specialist

As a Radiologic Technologist IV-Mammography- On Call at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in assisting physicians in the diagnosis of disease and injuries. Under the direction of the Imaging Services Director and Chief of Diagnostic Imaging, you will perform radiographic diagnostic imaging procedures to produce high-quality images of the body.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures, ensuring optimal diagnostic quality of patient care.
- Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation, demonstrating a high degree of tact, courtesy, and poise.
- Prepare and position patients for diagnostic imaging procedures, adjusting immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified areas of the body.
- Determine exposure factors based on patient height, weight, and the portion of the body involved, moving imaging equipment into specified positions.
- Adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy.
- Operate mobile radiologic equipment in operating rooms, emergency rooms, or at patients' bedsides, assisting radiologists and other qualified physicians in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations.
- Prepare images for reading by radiologists or requesting physicians, processing images and reviewing them for proper identification and quality control.
- Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and make minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging for repairs as needed.
- Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff, completing forms and maintaining records, logs, and reports of work performed.
- Orient new hires and train students, filling in as necessary in the absence of the Supervising Radiology Technologist.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a Specialty Mammography or one year of experience in a Specialty with an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification in that Specialty.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
- Certified Radiologic Technologist - Fluoroscopy Certificate (California), Certified Radiologic Technologist - Venipuncture Certificate (California), and Basic Life Support.
- Ability to perform all general diagnostic and routine fluoroscopic duties on patients of all ages, as determined by the employer.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos, and effectively present information to individuals and groups with varying knowledge of Radiology services.
