Our innovative approach, termed "democratized deterrence," focuses on developing adaptable aerial vehicles that empower operators with advanced capabilities at reduced costs.
We are in search of a Senior Flight Test Engineer who possesses a strong commitment to innovation and excellence. In this role, you will spearhead our flight testing initiatives for our cutting-edge, additively manufactured UAVs, continuously exploring the potential of modular UAV technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the developmental testing of autonomous aerial systems, utilizing both sub-scale and full-scale unmanned aerial vehicles in dynamic environments.
- Design and implement comprehensive flight test plans that rigorously assess the performance of autonomous systems, including hardware and software integrations across diverse mission profiles.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including autonomy, software, and hardware engineers, to establish test requirements.
- Provide critical insights and feedback throughout the development process, significantly influencing the evolution of uncrewed aerial systems.
- Enhance testing procedures, safety protocols, and documentation standards to ensure the integrity of all flight test operations.
- Coordinate with both private and government test ranges for system evaluations.
- Organize and manage test events, along with preparing and presenting detailed test reports.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, robotics, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience in autonomous systems testing.
- 1 to 5 years of experience in flight testing, particularly with autonomous or remotely piloted systems.
- Proven track record in developing and executing test plans for aerial systems under tight deadlines.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
- Strong communication skills to convey technical challenges and solutions effectively.
- Flexibility to work varied hours and travel to different testing locations as necessary.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a Top Secret-Level security clearance.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift over 25 pounds and work in diverse environmental conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in developing, testing, and deploying autonomous systems within defense or aerospace sectors.
- Graduate of a test pilot school.
- Hands-on experience with simulation tools for testing autonomous systems.
- Familiarity with software development practices and programming languages relevant to autonomy and robotics (e.g., Python, C++).
- Knowledge of industry and military standards related to unmanned aerial systems.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting test data and recommending improvements.
- FAA certification as a Remote Pilot (Part 107) and ability to obtain FAA medical certification.
- A desire to thrive in a startup environment.
