Overview
The Financial Analyst plays a crucial role in executing advanced professional accounting, auditing, and statistical functions. This position involves the preparation, maintenance, analysis, verification, and reconciliation of financial transactions, statements, records, and reports. Additionally, the role encompasses various aspects of grant management and reporting, including the administration of grants and support in preparing year-end audit documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up grants and accounts within the financial system to ensure effective tracking and reporting of expenditures.
- Monitor grant awards and manage deadlines for invoicing and reporting.
- Develop, review, and manage grant budgets while conducting revenue and expenditure analyses.
- Assist in maintaining rates and budgets.
- Perform reconciliation and comprehensive analysis of expenditures, ensuring timely submission of reports and invoices to meet funder requirements.
- Oversee grant expenditures and ensure all documentation is accurate and complete.
- Stay informed about regulatory compliance and related requirements.
- Foster relationships with provider contract managers and staff to achieve financial objectives.
- Handle all financial reporting as stipulated by each funder/grant, including quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports along with periodic billings.
- Maintain thorough documentation for all reporting, reports, and billings.
- Advise Project Managers and department heads on allowable expenses and funder restrictions.
- Create and maintain ongoing forecasts to enhance understanding of future obligations and potential variances.
- Support grant and contract proposals and applications, providing fiscal and budgetary assistance to meet deadlines.
- Ensure adherence to funder requirements.
- Assist in financial audits, ensuring all documentation is properly maintained.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of accounting controls, processes, and policies.
- Support the Director of Finance in creating business plans and forecasts based on predictive models and activity-based financial analysis.
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance from an accredited institution; MBA preferred.
- At least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in accounting or budgeting.
- Experience in administering and managing federal grants.
- Familiarity with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200), GAAP, FASB, and Fund Accounting.
- Understanding of accounting principles, billing procedures, budgeting, and fiscal management as they pertain to non-profit organizations.
- Proficient in developing and analyzing detailed budgets and resolving complex budgeting issues.
- Ability to interpret contracts, laws, regulations, and other technical documents.
- Experience with processing financial transactions using ERP systems and/or accounting software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel.
- This position typically operates in an office or home office setting, utilizing computers, telephones, and other office equipment as necessary.
- The role is primarily sedentary, involving sitting and standing, with the requirement to use repetitive hand motions and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
