Job Summary
The role of the Coatings Specialist involves primarily applying a wide range of industrial liquid coatings. In this position, you will coat various metal fabrication and plastic parts. You will also prepare surfaces before painting, as well as load and unload paint conveyor lines.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for coating by sanding, buffing, or using chemical wipes to ensure a smooth finish.
- Apply primer, intermediate, top coat, and sealers to ensure proper adhesion and durability.
- Mix paints correctly and follow coating specifications to meet quality standards.
- Mask and protect areas not to be coated to prevent damage.
- Inspect painted parts for quality and accuracy.
- Apply paint using spray guns with precision and control.
- Clean machines, equipment, and work areas to maintain a safe and efficient environment.
- Review work orders and assignments to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Manage paint material inventory efficiently to minimize waste and optimize production.
- Utilize safety equipment and dispose of hazardous waste properly to ensure a safe working environment.
- Operate equipment following safety regulations and guidelines.
- Wear required safety gear and maintain health equipment to prevent injuries.
- Collaborate with team during production meetings to discuss progress and address challenges.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience in wet painting operations with a strong understanding of coating processes.
- Preferably experience in industrial or automotive settings with knowledge of relevant regulations and standards.
- Strong color vision and aesthetic sense to ensure accurate color matching and finish quality.
- Detail-oriented and quality-conscious to meet high standards of production.
- Familiarity with painting tools and materials to optimize performance and efficiency.
- Effective time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to collaborate and work in a team to achieve common goals.
