Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Merchandise Planner to join our team. As a Merchandise Planner, you will be responsible for working with the Senior Buyers to plan merchandise, monitor sales, and recommend changes in inventory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develops merchandise plans and collaborates with Buyers to determine realistic set of goals.
  • Uses results from analyses to determine margins, sales, trends, and integrates season, fashion trends, local climate, target price points, and several other factors to assist in planning.
  • Advises Buyers on which classifications are trending up to optimize sales and which classifications are trending down to minimize margin impact.
  • Recommends to Buyers on flow quantities and timing of merchandise.
  • Prepares, compiles, analyzes, and reports on merchandising inventory levels, sales, and margins.
  • Compares historical information from Finance, Retail Operations, and Information Services to determine sales trends.
  • Plans, develops, and conducts miscellaneous analysis projects at the direction of management.
  • Develops and presents recommendations to Senior Buyers based upon analysis findings.
  • Monitors sales of merchandise against plan for total department/class.
  • Recommends changes in inventory.
  • Advises Buyers on the effect of promotions, markdowns, and inventory levels.
Requirements
  • High school diploma and - 3 years of Merchandise Planning experience. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of financial analysis, budgeting, and retail planning concepts.
  • Proficient in the use of Planning and Retail systems.
  • Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, in particular).
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Ability to impact and influence people, businesses, and processes.
  • Must be a team player.
