Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager, the Trailer Repair Technician is tasked with the upkeep and repair of all company-owned flatbed and van truck trailers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct preventative maintenance to ensure compliance with U.S. Department of Transportation road safety standards.
  • Execute repairs on braking systems, electrical components, suspensions, alignments, and tires.
  • Oversee wheel hubs and axles, making adjustments or replacements as necessary.
  • Diagnose reported issues and resolve them efficiently.
  • Maintain detailed work logs, compile inspection reports, document repairs, and communicate findings to management.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with air brake systems, electrical systems, and ABS brake systems is preferred.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow instructions in various formats.
  • Strong attention to detail and adept problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency in diagnostic software.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a relevant apprenticeship program or professional certification in maintenance and trailer repairs is preferred.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License is preferred.
  • Experience in Mig and Stick Welding, as well as fabrication, is preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Must possess the manual dexterity and stability required for precision tasks.
  • Ability to see details at close range is essential.
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to navigate facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.

Working Environment:

  • Must provide personal tools and storage solutions.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, facing various weather conditions, including extreme heat, wind, rain, snow, and freezing temperatures.
  • Must be able to work in environments with loud noises, heavy vibrations, dust, exhaust fumes, and around hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
