Job OverviewAs a Patient Care Assistant at Emerus, you will play a vital role in supporting our nursing team to provide exceptional care to our patients. Your primary responsibility will be to perform advanced indirect and selected direct patient care duties, working under the direction of a registered nurse.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver high-quality patient care, demonstrating knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients served.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to plan, expedite, and promote quality patient care.
- Employ critical thinking skills to identify and respond to abnormal findings, reporting them to the nurse immediately.
- Perform various tasks, including taking patient vital signs, performing blood glucose checks, and maintaining related records.
- Assist patients with mobility, transport them within the facility, and perform assigned treatments as directed.
- Maintain equipment and patient rooms in an orderly fashion, performing housekeeping duties as needed.
- Serve as a Unit Clerk and/or monitor patients as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- 2 years of work experience in an acute care hospital as a Nursing Assistant or currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program required.
- Ability to understand written instructions and perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Demonstrated ability to perform duties with increased responsibilities.
- Ability to perform duties requiring prolonged standing, walking, stooping, bending, and lifting.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) protocols and universal precautions.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal communication.
