- Develop electrical power designs adhering to NESC and GO 95 codes, along with client-specific standards.
- Utilize design expertise to create deliverables for the installation, replacement, and enhancement of power distribution systems.
- Assess engineering challenges using both client-supplied and independent tools, providing timely and effective solutions while managing multiple projects.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams, utility clients, and external stakeholders.
- Create electrical construction plans for various projects, including New Customer Services, Subdivision Developments, Overhead Reconductors, Pole Replacements, Solar and Net Metering Upgrades, and Underground facility replacements.
- Engage with clients and conduct site visits as necessary to collect relevant information.
- Employ Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, including AutoCAD and GIS-based drafting tools.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Strong focus on meeting client needs.
- Some knowledge of Overhead/Underground utility systems is advantageous.
- Electrical knowledge is preferred.
- Willingness to work additional hours, including weekends, to meet client demands.
- Ability to create and interpret construction drawings and utilize various mapping software.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as Spida Calc, Ocalc, Cyme, and other relevant programs.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the electrical or utility sector is preferred.
- A degree in a related field is preferred.
- Successful candidates may be required to complete a pre-employment drug screening, background check, and/or motor vehicle record check.
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) class "C" is required.
- Regular local travel (by vehicle).
- RARE (less than 10%): stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, crawling, climbing on/off vehicles, climbing poles, gripping, climbing ladders, balancing.
- OCCASIONAL (up to 33%): standing, sitting, manual dexterity, distant vision, lifting 10 to 50 lbs., reaching, depth perception, color vision, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs.
- FREQUENT (up to 66%): walking.
- CONTINUOUS (up to 100%): clear speaking, reading, hearing within speech range.
Asplundh Construction has evolved since its inception in the early 1960s, originally focusing on underground electric and telephone cable work. Over the years, it has expanded its services to include overhead and underground electric, as well as gas construction and maintenance.
In 2004, Asplundh Construction became part of the Asplundh Infrastructure Group, which focuses on electric and gas infrastructure services. The Asplundh Infrastructure Group employs over 4,000 individuals and operates a fleet of 4,400 specialized vehicles and equipment to meet the needs of various utilities and public agencies.
