Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Research Scientist/Engineer to join our AI/ML Response team at Apple Inc. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing, with a proven track record of designing and developing large-scale ML models.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop training, adapting, and deploying large-scale ML models with a focus on natural language understanding, generation, speech, and/or multimodal generation.
  • Advance and apply the latest ML techniques to Apple's virtual assistant, Siri, to enrich the user experience.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including ML researchers, software engineers, and hardware & design teams, to ensure quality and fairness in model development.
  • Develop and implement policies that can be personalized to the user in a privacy-preserving manner.
Requirements
  • 5-7+ years of experience in Machine Learning and its application to NLP, NLG, or Speech.
  • Hands-on experience training Large Language Models (LLMs), adapting pre-trained LLMs for downstream tasks, and human alignment.
  • Proficiency in using ML toolkits, such as PyTorch.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, C, and C++.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in JAX.
Education and Experience

M.S. or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, such as mathematics, physics, or computer engineering, with a focus on computer vision and/or machine learning, or comparable professional experience.

Additional Requirements
  • Base pay range: $175,800 - $312,200, depending on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
  • Eligibility for discretionary bonuses or commission payments, as well as relocation.
