Job Title: Preschool Chef/Floater

Cooking up a storm at The Learning Experience, our Preschool Chef/Floater prepares nutritious, kid-friendly meals that delight young palates. This role requires a passion for creating a positive dining experience, while adhering to state and federal nutritional guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and execute menus that meet the nutritional needs of our little ones, with flexibility to make substitutions as needed.
  • Manage food inventory, ordering, and storage to stay within budget.
  • Prepare and serve meals in a safe and sanitary environment, ensuring food is served at the right temperature and in suitable containers.
  • Maintain accurate records of meal counts and inventory, adhering to CACFP guidelines.
Safety and Sanitation:
  • Follow local health and safety regulations, including proper handwashing, lifting, and waste disposal.
  • Keep the kitchen and surrounding areas clean and organized, adhering to state and local regulations.
  • Participate in emergency procedures and maintain a safe working environment.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a smooth operation.
  • Provide excellent customer service to parents and maintain a positive rapport.
  • Assist with food shopping and other tasks as needed.
  • Participate in team decisions and contribute to a positive work environment.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; ECE coursework preferred.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Relevant experience in a childcare facility kitchen, commercial kitchen, or public school cafeteria.
  • Food service/food handler's permit or license according to state/local regulations.
Caregiving Skills:

Ensure children's safety and well-being, including diapering, dressing, and feeding. Model good social skills, such as communication and conflict resolution. Keep children engaged and active in developmentally appropriate activities.

Physical Resilience:

Demonstrate full range of motion, including standing, walking, lifting, and carrying objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Reach, stretch, and climb as needed. Maintain mental and physical alertness to perform essential job functions.
