Job Summary

The Vehicle Driver III plays a critical role in the Health and Human Services Commission by ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of goods and supplies across the region. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive and inspect vehicles to ensure they are in good operating condition, performing minor repairs as needed.
  • Receive, sign for, and inspect packages received in the mail room or warehouse, delivering them to the appropriate personnel at HHS offices throughout the region.
  • Process and distribute document service/copy requests, sorting and distributing mail to various HHS office locations within the region.
  • Order and maintain adequate inventory of supplies needed for mail and copy services, performing warehouse duties including tracking inventory and surplus state property.
  • Assist with office moves, complete minor building repairs, and routine maintenance, overseeing and directing activities of contractors and vendors for moves and modular furniture installation.
  • Serve on the Regional Disaster Deployment Team by delivering and setting up emergency equipment and supplies.
  • Utilize the Computer Aided Facility Management (CAFM) system to receive and document completion of assignments, and the CAPPS Financial module for documenting receipt of purchased items delivered to the warehouse or mailroom.
Requirements
  • Attend work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy.
  • Responsible for driving state agency trucks and cargo vans to deliver and pickup large items, providing mail pickup and small package delivery while on routine delivery route to HHS offices in region.
  • Safe and efficient loading, unloading, and delivery of cargo, evaluating multiple delivery locations to determine the most cost-effective and time-saving route to travel.
  • Monitors vehicle maintenance records and takes vehicles in when needed for regular upkeep to maintain vehicles in good operating condition.
