Compassionate Hospice Support Volunteer

The volunteer plays an essential role in improving the quality of care provided to patients and their families through direct support activities or administrative tasks that align with the hospice organization's mission of delivering exceptional patient and family care.
Key Responsibilities
- Offers administrative support for direct patient services, which may include creating educational materials for patients and families, managing correspondence, organizing files, and completing all assigned tasks promptly, ensuring that documentation is clear, comprehensive, and legible.
- Assists the hospice program and/or patients and families in accordance with designated responsibilities.
- Contributes to the care plan and participates in Interdisciplinary Team meetings as needed.
- Communicates any changes in availability and schedule to the supervisor.
- Accurately records services rendered as trained and directed by the hospice organization.
- Maintains strict confidentiality regarding patient information.
- Participates in a minimum of four (4) training sessions annually.
- Completes all required training programs.
- Submits annual renewal documents in a timely manner.
- Volunteers providing patient care and support services must comply with agency policies and work under the supervision of a qualified agency employee based on their experience, training, and education.
- Experience in interacting with individuals and a willingness to assist others.
- Less than 6 months of relevant experience.
- A mature, non-judgmental, and compassionate individual who supports the hospice philosophy of care.
- Completion of the Volunteer Training Program is required.
