Job Summary:

The Lead Highway Maintenance Specialist is responsible for leading a team of maintenance workers in the upkeep and repair of highways and roadways. This position requires strong leadership skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make decisions quickly.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of maintenance workers in the upkeep and repair of highways and roadways
  • Develop and implement maintenance plans to ensure the safety and efficiency of highway operations
  • Conduct regular inspections of highways and roadways to identify areas of concern and develop plans to address them
  • Supervise and train maintenance workers to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs effectively
  • Collaborate with other departments and agencies to ensure that maintenance activities are coordinated and effective
  • Develop and manage budgets for maintenance activities
  • Ensure that all maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with safety protocols and regulations
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience in highway maintenance or a related field
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make decisions quickly
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations
  • Ability to develop and implement maintenance plans
  • Ability to supervise and train maintenance workers
  • Ability to collaborate with other departments and agencies

Preferred Qualifications:
  • CDL A or B with airbrake endorsement
  • Experience with heavy equipment operation
  • Knowledge of highway maintenance software and systems
  • Experience with budgeting and financial management

Work Environment:

The Lead Highway Maintenance Specialist will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to loud noise, fumes, and hazardous materials. The position requires the ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and to lift heavy objects.

Physical Demands:

The Lead Highway Maintenance Specialist will be required to lift heavy objects, work in a variety of weather conditions, and to stand for long periods of time. The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to make decisions quickly.
