Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist employs a diverse set of professional and personal skills to lead medication-related patient care initiatives. The primary objectives include ensuring safe and effective drug use, delivering pharmaceutical care aimed at achieving favorable patient outcomes through cost-efficient medication therapy, and promoting pharmacy as a vital part of the healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately dispenses medications to patients in a timely manner, ensuring the highest standard of care.
  • Oversees the activities of pharmacy support staff to guarantee coordinated and efficient pharmaceutical services.
  • Serves as a pharmaceutical authority and resource to advocate for safe, appropriate, and economical drug use.
  • Maintains an adequate inventory of pharmaceutical supplies to support optimal patient care.
  • Stays informed of pharmacy and hospital policies to ensure efficient departmental operations.
  • Demonstrates the professional expertise necessary to uphold the highest standards of hospital pharmacy practices.
  • Monitors drug usage within the organization to ensure compliance with established quality assurance standards.
  • Maintains proficiency in pharmacy-related computer systems to provide uninterrupted services.
  • Adheres to all safety regulations and pharmacy laws to ensure safe and legal healthcare delivery.
  • Responsible for the safe handling and disposal of pharmaceutical waste and hazardous materials, including compliance with relevant training and regulations.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy School.

Licensure and Certifications

Must be licensed by the relevant state pharmacy board.

Experience Requirements

A minimum of three years of experience in a hospital pharmacy setting is required.

Compensation

Competitive hourly wage based on experience.
