Job Title: Clinical Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Clinical Assistant to join our team at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health. As a Clinical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support services in our Suburban Outpatient Pavilion Podiatry department.

Job Summary:

The Clinical Assistant will work under the supervision of a provider and/or licensed nurse to provide clinical support services to patients. This includes preparing patients for exams, taking vital signs, and assisting with procedures. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare patients for exams by taking vital signs and accurately recording information in the patient chart.
  • Assist providers with various procedures, minor surgeries, and exams as designated by the provider.
  • Perform various tests and procedures upon the request of the provider, including but not limited to hearing tests, EKGs, vision screenings, phlebotomy, and collecting lab specimens.
  • Perform front office responsibilities, including scheduling, registration, check-in, check-out, and monitoring work queues.
  • Assure exam rooms are adequately supplied and cleaned after each patient visit.
  • Assist with proactive outreach for patients requiring preventive and chronic disease services.
  • Perform care coordination activities among specialists and transitions of care to obtain all necessary patient information.
  • Assist in coordination of referrals, education, and community resources.
  • Actively participate in performance improvement initiatives to improve overall patient experience and quality of care.
  • Participate in daily huddles with the provider.
  • Provide assistance to patients when entering and exiting the building.
  • Serve as a patient experience advocate by being a positive influence at all times when interacting with patients, visitors, and colleagues.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical Assistant degree or certificate, certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant, or previous work experience as a Patient Care Assistant or Medical Assistant.
  • One to two years of clinical experience in a physician's office.
Working Conditions:

The Clinical Assistant will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The position requires the ability to perform under stress when confronted with emergency, critical, unusual, or dangerous situations. The incumbent must be able to perform all job functions safely.
