Job Title: Clinical Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Clinical Assistant to join our team at Lancaster General Health. As a Clinical Assistant, you will provide clinical support services to patients in a provider's office under the supervision and direction of a provider and/or licensed nurse.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical support services to patients in a provider's office
  • Prepare patients for exams by measuring vital signs and accurately recording information in patient charts
  • Assist providers with various procedures, minor surgeries, and other exams as designated by the provider
  • Perform various tests and procedures upon the request of the provider, including but not limited to hearing tests, EKGs, vision screenings, phlebotomy, and collecting lab specimens
  • Perform various front office responsibilities, including but not limited to scheduling, registration, check-in, check-out, and monitoring work queues
  • Assure exam rooms are adequately supplied and cleaned after each patient visit
  • Maintain and clean medical instruments and equipment after each procedure
  • Assist with proactive outreach for patients requiring preventive and chronic disease services
  • Perform care coordination activities among specialists and transitions of care to obtain all necessary patient information
  • Assist in coordination of referrals, education, and community resources
  • Actively participate in performance improvement initiatives to improve overall patient experience and quality of care
  • Participate in daily huddles with the provider
  • Provide assistance to patients when entering and exiting the building
  • Serve as a patient experience advocate by being a positive influence at all times when interacting with patients, visitors, and colleagues

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Medical Assistant degree or certificate, certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant, or previous work experience as a Patient Care Assistant or Medical Assistant
  • One to two years of clinical experience in a physician's office

Working Conditions:

This position involves exposure to the following harmful elements: biohazardous waste, blood-borne pathogens, and high-pressure steam/gas.
