Transportation Engineer Job Description

Gannett Fleming is a leading transportation engineering firm that has completed over 400 assignments worldwide. We are seeking a highly motivated Transportation Engineer to join our team of transportation professionals in the GF Transportation Operations Group.

This position will involve working on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), traffic signal, tolling, and managed lanes projects throughout the country. You will have the opportunity to work on a hybrid schedule with both in-office and remote days.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform engineering design services throughout the project life-cycle, from concept through construction.
  • Work with lead engineers and other disciplines to prepare appropriate designs, as dictated by the scope of work.
  • Lead the design of specific tasks and analyze moderate to complex design problems.
  • Provide direction to younger staff and develop engineering drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Communicate with clients on task-oriented issues and project-related updates.
  • Participate in projects by completing tasks within schedule and budget.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil or Electrical preferred) or relevant discipline.
  • Professional Engineer license preferred (at a minimum, you should be on the path to obtain P.E. licensure).
  • 4-8 years' experience working in a relevant field.
  • Expertise with CADD and MS Office.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Some experience with management of project tasks.
