Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Prep Cook to join our team at Kona Grill - Columbus. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist chefs in preparing and cooking menu items to ensure high-quality dishes are delivered to our guests.
  • Store, label, and rotate prepped items in accordance with health department regulations and company standards.
  • Minimize waste and recycle materials whenever possible, communicating with chefs to ensure efficient operations.
  • Report any issues related to product consistency, deliveries, or quality to chefs and the purchasing team.
  • Execute all menu items for assigned stations, maintaining a thorough understanding of work safety and emergency procedures.
  • Read food tickets accurately and utilize standardized recipe cards and proper tools and techniques.
  • Ensure all food products meet our quality standards, resulting in positive guest feedback.
  • Maintain timely delivery of orders from the kitchen to the dining room.
  • Complete daily tasks before leaving for the day, communicating with the sous chef or executive sous chef on duty.
  • Meet daily cleaning and organizational standards in storage and production areas.
  • Assist other kitchen staff with cleaning, cooking, prepping, and receiving tasks as needed.
  • Perform all duties while adhering to health department sanitation requirements.
  • Complete additional tasks with enthusiasm, dedication, and professionalism.
  • Maintain good communication standards with teammates and management.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in high-volume or fast-casual dining restaurant environments is preferred.
  • Able to interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly, enthusiastic, and outgoing manner.
  • Ability to stand and exert well-paced mobility for periods up to 8 hours while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and 8+ hours/day.
