The University of Georgia's Pet Health Center is a state-of-the-art facility equipped with advanced technology and a team of compassionate professionals dedicated to providing exceptional care to animals and their owners.

Job Summary:

This is a full-time position that requires technical knowledge and experience handling animals in a patient care setting. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional care to client-owned animals, assisting with general veterinary care, including spay/neuter procedures, dental care, and outpatient surgery.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Registered Veterinary Technicians in nursing care, helping manage patient treatment
  • Perform day-to-day Veterinary Assistant duties, including dental procedures, otic lavage, wound clipping, prepping, flushing, bandaging, casts, sedation, suturing skin, catheterization, venipuncture, injections, medication, CPR, airway management, and circulatory system maintenance
  • Train senior veterinary students, veterinary technician students, and new nursing staff on various duties performed in the Pet Health Center, including receiving patients, examinations, dentistry, dental radiology, specimen collection, and testing

Requirements:

  • Techincal knowledge acquired through an apprenticeship, 2-year degree, or professional certificate
  • Experience handling animals in a patient care setting (preferred)

Benefits:

  • Fully benefits-eligible position with the University of Georgia
  • Average salary: $22,000 - $26,000 per year (estimated based on industry standards)

Working Conditions:

  • Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • Occasional weekend work may be required
