Job Summary

San Ysidro Health Center is seeking a skilled Physician to join our team in Chula Vista. As a Physician, you will provide comprehensive medical care to our patients, working under the direction of the San Diego PACE Medical Director. Key Responsibilities
  • Prescribe appropriate medication, health regimens, and lifestyle adjustments to promote patient recovery and prevent future health issues.
  • Manage stable patients with chronic conditions, utilizing internal resources and e-consult services to maintain their general health.
  • Triage and quickly recognize when treatment is appropriately provided on site, in urgent care, or in the emergency room.
  • Respond to crisis intervention services, ensuring behavioral health services are delivered in a culturally appropriate fashion and consistent with State of California laws and regulations.
  • Refer patients to Behavioral Health providers, including Psychiatrists, Psychiatric PAs, and other appropriate BH members.
  • Work in conjunction with Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to deliver primary care to our patients.
  • Participate in the supervision of advanced mid-level providers and supervise family practice and/or internal medicine residents.
  • Efficiently prioritize daily tasks and duties to maintain high-acuity patients out of emergency and urgent care facilities.
  • Complete all required medical documentation in the Electronic Medical Record in a timely manner, consistent with excellent documentation and compliance with San Diego PACE requirements and State and Federal regulations.
  • Assist in developing and implementing procedures and protocols to facilitate the delivery of comprehensive health services and quality assurance.
  • Provide inpatient coverage and call coverage as assigned by Medical Director.
  • Screen and monitor the management of chronic conditions, symptomatic, and well patients.
  • Coordinate the preparation of reports and written documentation, including medical records, as required by the department clinic, state, and federal agencies.
  • Supervise Nurses and assistants in examining rooms and may serve as preceptor for team members developing in expanded medical roles.
  • Provide consultative services for complex diagnostic or therapeutic problems as requested by other staff physicians.
Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited school of Medicine.
  • Current CA MD and DEA license.
  • BLS certification.
  • Board certified or eligible in primary care specialty.
  • Completion of clinical training.
  • Supervision of nurses.
  • Good oral and written communication.
  • Preferred skills include skin biopsy, excision of skin lesions, suturing, casting, and sigmoidoscopy, phlebotomy.
  • Must obtain staff privileges at local hospitals.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Frequent sitting.
  • May assist patients in getting onto examination tables.
  • Will be required to work at other sites.
  • Will be required to work participate on on-call panel and work evenings and/or weekends.
