About the RoleAs a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Designing and developing new measurement technologies for material characterization
- Prototyping designs and developing test plans, communicating results
- 3D modeling, proposing and conducting simulations where relevant
- Participating in design reviews and providing feedback where appropriate
- Working with project leads on technical ideation
- Generating all 2D and 3D CAD files that represent the products, systems, subsystems, or components under development
- Working closely with engineers and cross-functional teams to develop product designs
- Communicating concerns, suggestions, and improvements relating to engineering concerns and product life cycle management
- Overseeing full documentation of mechanical design, including BOM, drawings, and procedures
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Engineering Associates/Bachelors Degree preferred, 2-3 years in a development environment
- Experience with prototype design, test, and analysis
- Root cause analysis
- Experience with Unigraphics/SolidWorks or equivalent tool
- PDM and change process experience
- GD&T knowledge and experience
- Adept at originating and interpreting engineering designs and concepts
- Strong interpersonal, communications, and analytical skills
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects
- Understanding of physics and/or mechanical engineering disciplines (thermal, structural, fluid principles)
- Materials Science knowledge
- Ability to work independently and in teams to design experiments and test plans, review designs, and brainstorm ideas
- Use of sensors and measurement principles
- Data analysis and presentation
- Familiar with simulations of mechanical and thermal problems, preferably Ansys/Matlab
- Design for Manufacture and Assembly
- Hands-on experience of fabrication/assembly techniques
