Aquatics Coordinator

At the Greater Somerset County YMCA, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Aquatics Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our aquatics staff, you will be responsible for maintaining safe swimming conditions in the pool, on the deck, and surrounding areas.

• Maintain active surveillance and control of the pool area, ensuring the safety of members and staff.
• Assist in department program development, administration, and management, working closely with the Aquatics Director to innovate and grow our aquatic programs.
• Address member concerns, direct members to program areas or lane needs, and support the overall aquatic team.
• Assist with swim lessons by instructing, conducting swim evaluations, and ensuring proper level placement of participants.
• Serve in various aquatics roles as required, including Lifeguard, Deck Supervisor, and Swim Instructor.
• Know and review all emergency procedures, respond to emergency situations immediately, and complete related reports and records as required.
• Maintain effective, positive relationships with members, participants, and other staff, demonstrating the ability to establish and maintain appropriate professional relationships.

• Minimum age of 18.
• Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen.
• Current YMCA or ARC Lifeguard or equivalent certification.
• Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness.

• The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
• Physically perform all skills required of a lifeguard, including hearing noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment.
• Remain alert with no lapses of consciousness and see and observe all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibility.

Salary: $20-$24 per hour
