Aquatics Coordinator

Greater Somerset County YMCA is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Aquatics Coordinator to join our team. As an Aquatics Coordinator, you will be responsible for maintaining safe swimming conditions in the pool, on the deck, and surrounding areas. You will create a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

• Maintain active surveillance and control of the pool area in all job functions as assigned.
• Assist in department program development, administration, and management.
• Address member concerns, direct members to program areas or lane needs, and support the overall Aquatic team.
• Assist with swim lessons by instructing, conducting swim evaluations, and ensuring proper level placement of participants.
• Serve in various aquatics roles as required, including Lifeguard, Deck Supervisor, and Swim Instructor.
• Know and review all emergency procedures and respond to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
• Perform equipment checks and ensure appropriate equipment is available as needed.
• Maintain effective, positive relationships with members, participants, and other staff.

• Minimum age of 18.
• Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen.
• Current YMCA or ARC Lifeguard or equivalent.
• Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness.

• Physically perform all skills required of a lifeguard.
• Hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment.
• Remain alert with no lapses of consciousness.
• See and observe all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibility.
