Main Function:

As a Maintenance HVAC Technician at Arnot Health, you will be responsible for performing maintenance and preventive maintenance in compliance with local, state, and federal laws, codes, and regulations, as well as Hospital policies and safety directives. Your primary duties will relate to all HVAC units and temperature-related control and devices throughout the facility.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Plan work and make decisions on the need for repairs, and complete reports as directed.
  2. Operate, maintain, and repair HVAC units, and associated pumps and equipment.
  3. Test water in boilers on each shift, prepare and adjust boiler treatment for boilers, and recharge water softeners as needed.
  4. Perform minor electrical and plumbing repairs without supervision.
  5. Work on equipment such as ice machines, refrigeration equipment, motors, automatic recording, and HVAC, various temperature control mechanisms.
  6. Change belts and pulleys on motors, adjust clutches on motors, and change electric motors.
  7. Assist in repairs of air, steam, water, gas, and oil line systems.
  8. Unload, assemble, and install equipment as required.
  9. Store all flammable materials in approved covered containers.
  10. Perform and share on-call duties with all maintenance technicians.
  11. Respond to all fire alarms and drills.
  12. Inspect air intakes, sources, screens, and filters with special attention to high-risk areas, in accordance with departmental procedures.
  13. Take readings of thermometers and gauges, and record readings in logs as required.
  14. Notify the Lead Technician on all calls of any emergency situations.
  15. Clean the area after work is completed.
  16. Promote and foster the mission and philosophy of the Hospital during the performance of job duties and community activities.
  17. Actively support and participate in the Hospital's Continuous Quality Improvement endeavors.
  18. Perform other related duties as assigned.
  19. Be responsible for attending all mandatory annual educational programs as required by the position.
  20. Understand and demonstrate the importance of satisfying the needs of the customer/patient by interacting with them in a friendly and caring way, being attentive to their needs, both psychologically and physically, and by taking the initiative to maintain communication with the customer to provide and secure a pleasant experience with Arnot Health.
  21. It is understood that this list of typical duties for the classification is not to be considered inclusive of all duties that may be assigned.
Education:

High school graduate.

Experience:

At least two years of experience in general and preventive maintenance work, including boiler plant operations.

CPR Requirements:

No CPR required.

Physical Demands:

Standing, climbing, lifting, stretching, stooping, carrying materials, and equipment. Works indoors and outdoors. Handles and manipulates tools and equipment. Occasionally handles heavy lifting up to 75 lbs.

Special Requirements:
  1. Must be able to work from verbal instructions, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, and work requests.
  2. Must be familiar with relevant state and local construction codes, building, exits, radiation, sanitation, and power codes.
  3. Must be able to use all maintenance tools.
  4. Familiar with lighting circuits and fire alarm systems.
  5. Must hold a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record.
  6. Exposure Category: Category III. Tasks that do not involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. And Category I tasks are not a condition of employment.
