Position Summary

Role Overview: VERTEX is in search of a meticulous and analytical Financial Planning and Analysis Specialist to enhance our finance department. This position entails providing essential financial insights, engaging in forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning to align with the company’s financial goals. The successful candidate will demonstrate robust financial modeling capabilities, a comprehensive grasp of financial statements, and the proficiency to convey intricate financial data effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Planning & Analysis:
    • Construct and uphold financial models to facilitate budgeting, forecasting, and long-term strategic planning.
    • Evaluate financial performance against critical business metrics and document significant financial highlights to assist management in monitoring budget adherence.
    • Contribute to the assembly of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages, along with presentations for senior leadership.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting:
    • Engage in the annual budgeting cycle and periodic reforecasting, collaborating with department heads and the finance team.
    • Track and analyze budget variances, offering insights and recommendations to enhance financial outcomes.
    • Work alongside operations in the development of budgets and forecasts, as well as in monitoring variances.
  • Strategic Planning & Analysis:
    • Assist in the formulation of the strategic plan.
    • Support strategic decision-making through scenario analysis, sensitivity analysis, and what-if assessments.
    • Assess the financial implications of potential business opportunities, investments, and strategic initiatives.
  • Reporting & Communication:
    • Prepare and deliver reports to senior management and operations regarding key performance indicators (e.g., utilization, conversion rates, win ratios), variance analysis, and trend analysis.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure precise and timely financial reporting.
    • Effectively communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
    • Maintain the highest standards of integrity and confidentiality, ensuring sensitive financial data is managed with discretion and in accordance with company values.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify and implement enhancements to processes that boost the efficiency and effectiveness of financial planning and analysis activities.
Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, corporate finance, or similar roles.
  • Knowledge & Skills:
    • Strong expertise in financial modeling and data analysis tools.
    • Extensive experience with Excel, including Power Query, Pivot Tables, and Macros.
    • Familiarity with Power BI, Alteryx, and Deltek Vantagepoint is highly preferred, but not mandatory.
    • Solid understanding of financial statements, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
    • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
    • Strong communication and presentation skills (PowerPoint), with the capability to convey complex financial information to diverse stakeholders.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic environment.
